TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR PURCHASING BOUTIQUE GOWNS

Ordering

  1. Gowns may be purchased as either:

    • Made-to-measure: a new design is sketched for you and alterations to fit the gown are included in the price. Additions to the gown are extra.

    • Made-to-order: a new gown is made in a dress size that is closest to your measurements. Any alterations or additions to the gown are extra.

    • Off-the-rack: the gown is offered for sale in its current condition. Any alterations or additions to the gown are extra.

  2. Payment for your gown may be made in installments. A one third deposit of the gown price is required to secure your order. Progress payments can be made at fittings and the balance paid at the final fitting of the dress. Only credit card or cash payment are accepted for final payment. Payment of deposit means you accept these terms and conditions. Gown orders will only commence production after initial deposit has been accepted.

Quotes

1.  To make your gown payment plan manageable, the dress price will be quoted             before work commences and adhered to as per order confirmation. Quotes are           valid for four weeks from the time of writing. Quotes do not include the price             of alterations unless specified. Made to Measure gown orders include alterations to     fit the gown and are included in the gown price. Alterations required or requested     for made to order gowns and off-the-rack gowns are extra and the price of these       alterations will be added to your order as completed.

Deposits/Refunds

  1. As soon as your deposit is paid, we place orders for materials or begin the production process. We are obliged by our suppliers and contractors to honour those orders.  For this reason, your deposits are forfeited if you decide to cancel your order at any time.

  2. In the case of off the rack sales, the deposit is also forfeited as we have either cleaned your gown or have removed it from purchase, therefore losing a potential sale. Administrative work is also incurred and is covered by the deposit.

  3. All endeavors will be made to provide documentation of orders and confirmation promptly.

Delivery

  1. We prefer gown orders to be placed no later than 4 months before the wedding date. Please note that if you place your order within 4 months of your wedding date, you may incur a 10% rush surcharge and some materials may be out of stock.

Materials

 1.  Most of our garments are made of silk – either 100% or a mixture which gives              special effects. Please be aware of both the advantages and disadvantages over          which we have little or no control:

 2. Silk is a natural fibre, very fine and very fragile.  It must be handled with great            care. There are often variations in finish and dye lots.  Silk crushes and creases.

 3. The lining of gowns in all cases is synthetic. Another fabric can be substituted at          extra cost; please let us know at time of order.

 4.  If you wish to know the composition of all the material used on your garment               please ask.

 5.  Haberdashery and sundry materials are manufactured out-of-house (e.g. zippers,         buttons, trims).  We do not take responsibility for faulty goods.  Every effort is             made to source the best quality product possible for you garment and quality             control before use.

 6.  Dupion silk: This is a natural hand woven fabric. There may be variations of                 texture and colour. Bars and small knots are part of the normal texture and are           not considered defects. Do not wash. Do not bleach. Warm iron only if required.         Dry cleanable P(30).

 7.  Dressmaking standard: To reassure yourself of the quality of dressmaking you will         be receiving please feel free to inspect the inside of our sample garments.  Your         gown will be made to this same high standard.

Consultations and fittings

  1. Consultations and fittings are 45 minutes in length, and charged at $45.00 per visit. It is at our discretion to waive that charge. Generally your visits are free if there are only 3 visits. If you require more meetings, they will be charged. Our boutique is open to the public during usual trading hours. This means there may be others browsing in the shop during a fitting. We try to keep your fitting as discrete and private as possible.  If you wish to be undisturbed during your fittings please let us know. Private fittings attract a fee of $95 per 45 minutes.

  2. All members of our team are educated, trained and experienced at various levels of the fashion industry. Meetings personally with Hilde are limited and charged at $95 per 45 minutes if requested. We try to build and maintain meetings with your preferred and most appropriate team member, to make the creation of your gown a smooth experience.

  3. Fittings are special meetings to discuss and work on the progress of your gown.  Please come to your fittings with your bridal underwear and shoes. We need to have correct foundations and height to work accurately. We suggest no makeup or tanning creams as this may stain your dress before the wedding.  Body oils remain in the garment and begin to break down the fibre, often discolouring over time. We will offer baby wipes for your hands during a fitting simply to keep the gown as pristine as possible.

Pattern Changes

1.   If you would like to make changes to the original design of your gown after work          has commenced, a fee of $75 per design change will be incurred and the work            itself charged as per the alterations guide (this includes Made to Measure orders).      Please ask if you are unsure of the costs that your changes will incur. We will              quote as accurately as possible as we proceed.

Garment Care

  1. Only use professional dry cleaners specializing in bridal gowns. Some garments are made of various materials, each with different care instructions. Please use bridal professional dry cleaners only.  Note: Not all Dry Cleaners have the licence to use the specialist chemicals required. Your cleaning professional is welcome to consult with us if you have any concerns regarding the care of your garment.

Liability

  1. We will take your measurements at the time of order. We cannot be responsible should your body measurements fluctuate after the initial measurements are taken. Whilst every effort will be made to adjust the garment, no guarantees are made for perfect fit. All alterations will incur extra charges.

  2. Some of our gowns and products come from other suppliers. These are of good quality, however we are not responsible for another company’s workmanship.

  3. We will not be responsible if our suppliers do not deliver garments/ materials on time. Every effort will be made to supply a suitable replacement in this unlikely event.

  4. Made to order gowns and dresses may vary slighlty from the original sample in colour and/or shading due to the variations in dye lots, and availability of material.

  5. A garment left on our premises in storage after completion of sale is left at the customer’s own risk.

  6. Garments must be collected within a maximum of 6 months from date of order unless otherwise arranged.  Uncollected gowns will be returned to stock and resold. Deposits are forfeited if orders are not collected

  7. We do not take any responsibility for a garment once it has left our possession.

  8. Terms and conditions may be changed without notice.
